Oh, man.

I just yesterday, in defense of my fried chicken method, referenced the lovely Miss Lewis.

Just a few weeks ago, I ordered In Pursuit of Flavor. I have used The Gift of Southern Cooking as one of my staple cookbooks since it came out. She's taught me a lot.. and, I'll admit, reinforced a lot of my own natural prejudices towards being unafraid of both plenty of real cream and butter and honest fresh food in season.

Rest in Peace, Miss Lewis, and I hope wherever you are, someone's passing out biscuits.
